“Melodically heartbreaking, rhythmically mesmerizing, and a presence like the sweetest lullaby you’ve ever heard.” -www.birdistheworm.com

Hereward is the musical creation of versatile bassist Brady Millard-Kish, a Michigan-born musician who cut his teeth in New Orleans prior to landing in Seattle 15 years ago. After years performing as an in-demand sideman with successful artists from an eclectic range of musical styles, Millard-Kish decided it was time to make a statement of his own. Bringing together jazz, classical, post-rock, and world music influences, his melodic compositions are at-once familiar and unique—and thoroughly engaging. With the help of talented Seattle journeymen Ben Thomas (vibes), Eric Likkel (clarinets), Brian Chin (trumpet), Mark DiFlorio (drums), and Graig Markel of The Recovery Room (recording studio), Hereward was finally realized.
An extraordinarily eloquent listener had this to say…
“Every piece is so individual in the motifs that wander&weave into a distinctive mood which opens into another. The first a hypnotic lullaby waking to sustaining horns…next, flamenco-like, soft seduction yet with an edge of abrupt surprise & atonal asymmetries. Drums slow & wistful, reflection warming into cheer…a prelude for “Hereward”, blending the character of its major & minor threads into a sweet resolution. By “Remembrance”, all so integrated it swims along with grand assurance…the closing harmonics echo in a happy low key farewell.”
